THS4561: Data sheet THD vs TIDA-01057 Results

Part Number: THS4561
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4551, TIDA-01057

In THS4561 datasheet the THD is shown as

Very Low Harmonic Distortion

  • HD2: –115 dBc at 2-VPP, 100-kHz
  • HD3: –110 dBc at 2-VPP, 100-kHz

THS4551 datasheet

  • HD2: –128 dBc at 2 VPP, 100 kHz
  • HD3: –139 dBc at 2 VPP, 100 kHz

So it seems THS4551 is much better at least for 100kHz

TIDA-01057 showed THS4561 is slightly better than THS4551.

Not sure how to understand this.

Is there a THD or THD+N vs input freq curve data for TIDA-01057 design?

(THS4561 datasheet does not have THD vs input freq plots)

Thanks for the help!

  • Hi,

TIDA-01057 used a 2 kHz input frequency where the distortion performance between the THS4551 and the THS4561 are similar. The THS4551 has better distortion at higher frequency compared to the THS4561 because it has approximately twice the gain bandwidth. The advantage of the THS4561 for the TIDA-01057 design is that the wider supply voltage range allowed for a larger signal and therefore a higher "full scale" input to the ADC.

The THS4561 is still in an advanced launch status, but it will include full characterization data and plots when officially released.

    Regards,
