0804MC: Vacuum compatibility

Part Number: 0804MC

I would like to ask if the 0804MC is compatible in vacuum environment. If not, are there any alteratives?

I'm unclear on what you're asking. In what way would this be used in a vacuum environment? Would it have to provide some sort of seal?

  • Hi Dennis,
The 0804MC being in vacuum completely, a vacuum like 10^-8 Torr. We have TO-3 headers and wirebond our chips to it, but then we want to use the 0804MC as the socket so that TO-3 headers can be interchanged quickly. I am wondering about the material of the 0804MC, is it made of some polymer that might outgas in vacuum? A seal is not necessary as the socket will be completely in a vacuum chamber.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks

The socket is composed of glass filled polyester, and the contacts are brass with nickel/tin and nickel/gold plating. See data sheet here:

Unfortunately, outgassing is something we've never characterized, so I can't comment on the chemical properties.
This is the only part of this type we offer so we don't have an alternate.
