TLV3012: is input series resistor needed?

Does TLV3012 require a series resistor in-line with the inputs to limit the current if inputs ever go beyond the supply voltage? Don't see this info in the datasheet.

    yes, a current limiting resistor is needed if the input signal exceeds the supply voltage. Cou can see it in the absolute maximum ratings and the footnote (2).

    If you can guarantee that the inputs will not exceed the supplies, then you do not need a resistor.

    But it is recommended if the signal is coming from an off-board source, or, a source that is derived from another power supply system, that some series resistance is added to limit any transient currents that may occur during the power-up or power-down sequence.

    Our rule-of-thumb is 1kohm per volt of expected overvoltage. So if the worst case is 5V, then add a minimum of 5k series resistance.

    If everything is coming off the same supply, on the same board, then you do not need a resistor.
