LMV612: What is the difference between LMV612 and LMV932

Part Number: LMV612
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMV932, LMV932-N

Hi,

we are looking for alternatives to the LMV932MA/NOPB we are currently using in our boards. Looking at the datasheet we found that LMV612 is pretty much identical and I'm wondering what the difference might be.

Would LMV612 be a safe alternative to LMV932 or do we need to take care about something?

Thank you very much

Regards

Enrico

  • Hi Enrico,

you will find more maximum specifications in the datasheet of LMV932-N, when it comes to input offset voltage, input bias current and input offset current, e.g. Because of that the LMV932-N costs more than the LMV612.

  • Hi Kai,

yes, you are right. I've noticed that in the datasheet of 932 the maximum ratings are specified while in 612 these are not. Could it be that from technical point of view we are speaking about the same device (same design and production) but 932 has simply higher quality and has guaranteed performances?

    Hello Enrico,

I just wanted to add a bit to Kai's response.

As he mentioned, the primary distinction between the devices is the difference between the maximum specifications. In other words, LMV932-N is going to give a better defined range of performance and you will have a better idea of and more confidence in the part's performance over a wider range of settings. The 932 is going to be tested to a higher standard than the 612. This should answer the first of your original questions.

As to the second of your original questions, "Would LMV612 be a safe alternative to LMV932 or do we need to take care about something?" The answer depends on how much risk you are willing to tolerate. From the datasheet, the parts are quite similar. So the real question is, do you need the extra assurance of the 932's performance or are you willing to risk some performance for a lower cost?

I hope this clarifies some doubts and helps you to make an informed decision.
