TLV9004: OPA application in Buck Converter feedback

Part Number: TLV9004
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54340, TLV9064, TINA-TI, OPA172, TLV172

Customer is using OPA to do the feedback circuit of the buck converter TPS54340. Could you guide which OPA is suited one for such application with cost effective? IS TLV9004 suited one?

Buck condition: 12Vin to 5Vout with 1.5A.

In this application, there are x6 feedback of dc/dc connected in parallel as below circuitry.

  • Hi Brian,

Can you provide a little more information about what the circuit requirements are? It looks like the circuit you show above is configured in an attenuating gain (250/1.5k) - is that desired? Are the input signals low frequency?

Cost effective op-amps that are good starting points are the TLV9004 (1MHz) or the TLV9064 (10MHz). If the circuit has other requirements like very low offset voltage, then the requirements might change.

Have you tried simulating the circuit? We provide a model for the TLV9004 that you can use in PSPICE or TINA-TI and can help you evaluate your choice in this application.

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • RD mentioned that the OPA's output is connected to the voltage feedback of the TPS54340 (2MHz working frequency). It looks the TLV904's VCC is up to 5V only. They don't share more detailed one.
Is there any one with higher VCC (maybe 16V or higher)? Thanks.

    application: PID (MiniLED panel)

    Regards,
    Brian
  • For a higher voltage part, look at the TLV172 or OPA172 - they are high voltage parts with good bandwidth that might be good candidates.
