AMC1200: AMC1200B creepage compared to AMC1301 in the same DWV package

Part Number: AMC1200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1301,

Hi,

In the datasheet of the AMC1200B I can see that the creepage as well as the clearance for the DWV package is 8mm (7.3.4).
In the AMC1301 datasheet I read a creepage of 9mm for the same package (7.6).
As of my understanding creepage and clearance is only defined by the geometry.
Any clarification is highly appreciated.

Thanks and best regards,

Patrick

  • Hi Patrick,

When the AMC1200 was released back in 2011, our DWV lead frame was a little different than it is today, so we could only specify it as having a 8mm 'minimum' clearance. We revised the lead frame a little before the AMC1301 was introduced in 2016, which is why it shows the 9mm number in the datasheet. New AMC1200 devices also have 9mm clearance, but for historical reasons we can't change the numbers in the associated datasheet.
