TL082: What is the max sink current?

Part Number: TL082

Hi team,

         TL082 power supply is  ±15V

When output voltage is -15V, Customer would like to know what the TL082 max sink current? I can't find in the datasheet. The current road is like below shown pic. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

  • Hi Eggsy,

this depends on the load. The output current can be estimated from figure 5 of datasheet.

    Let's have two examples:

    1. Rload is 1k. Then the output can emit 11V. 11V / 1k = 11mA.

    2. Rload is 250R. Then the output can emit 7.5V. 7.5V / 250R = 30mA.

  • Hi Eggsy,

The max output swing is dependent on the output current required for the design. I recommend watching our TI Precision Lab videos on Input/Output Limitations for more information.

Kai is correct in that figure 5 shows the max output swing limit of the device.

    Thank you,
