TLV3701: input current leakage with Vdd = 0

Part Number: TLV3701

I am interested in using the TLV3701 in a thermistor monitoring application.  Given the supply rails I have available, I have different supply rails for the input signals and the device Vdd. I have two questions about operating the TLV3701 with inputs beyond the rails:

  1. What input leakage currents might flow if the device operates with VIN+ = 3.4V and Vcc = 0V ?
  2. What input leakage currents might flow if the device operates with VIN+ = 3.4V and Vcc = 3.0V ?

  • Hi Jonathan,

The input common mode range of TLV3701  is -0.1V to Vcc + 5V (please see the data sheet). So both of the 2 scenarios are within the recommended operating conditions.

The mentioned "leakage current" is introduced primarily by the input protection diode (in this case it's forward-biased). A 50k series resistor could be used to limit the current.

    Thanks.

  • If you could provide more details on your circuit, we should be able to provide a more relevant suggestions. TI has a large comparator portfolio and choosing a right part will help to improve performance and reduce cost at the same time.

We'll leave this thread open for now for your reply.
