         Hi,

I have no LAUNCHXL-F280049C yet, but since it's documentation claims driving two independent BLDC loops , can two BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV be stacked or hooked on single LAUNCHXL-F280049C  board ?   Is such combo supported by current c2000 software ecosystem ?

Thanks,

Petric

  • Hi Petric,

The booster pack experimental software was released with TMS320F28069M, therefore it most likely won’t work with the F280049C or any other launch pads without modification. However, at the same time the booster pack is rather generic from topology stand point. I don’t see why it can’t be driven by any BLDC controller.

It depends on the specifics of F280049C to determine if two control loops can run in parallel. But as far as the booster pack itself is concerned, I don’t see any problem, as long as you have two sets of hardware/headers. If you have specific questions regarding F280049, please post to the C2000 forum  https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171

  • Hi Guang !

Thanks for answering, my fault is I failed
The aim for the suitable combo is to run two independent PID trajectory loops on drone outrunners fitted with 500 ppr ( 2 000 cpr (X4)) encoder disk. Since those BLDC motors have extremely low inductance, just thought that GaN output module might yield some benefits over NextFet topology in fast PWM, to get the fine grained, high frequency current loop.
What TI combo might be close to that, Delfino @ 200 MHz, which booster pack ?
As the stone age coder that built his brushed DDC servo over LM 628, 15 yrs ago, just want to double that functionality and performance on single board. No time nor desire to reinvent the wheel, since TI ecosystem advanced so far, and my lifetime expectancy nears the end. Some adaptations shall be necessary of course, but I'd like to get most of Ti firmware offered for free, and as you are aware of, black hole time sink lies in software, not on wiring and pin to pin compatibility.
Any other launchpad & booster combo suggestions ?

    Regards,
    Petric
  • Hi Petric,

Below is an input from C2000 team regarding other hardware/software combo that can work with the GaN booster pack:

From C2000 side we primarily use this with http://www.ti.com/tool/LAUNCHXL-F28379D

    there are projects in controlSUITE.

    C:\ti\controlSUITE\libs\app_libs\motor_control\libs\FCL_SFRA\v01_00_00_00\Examples\FCL_SFRA_379DXL_v1\~Docs

That is the only working software we have available.

There are many other launch pad/booster pack combos, but I don't which is the best. Below are a couple of examples:

This is a document on the GaN+379D combo: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sprt735/sprt735.pdf

Here is another example for dual motor control also with 379D http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spracb8a/spracb8a.pdf

  •   Thanks Guang, for the answers and response time.

It's mine now to buy  & try.

      Cheers !
