OPA335: about OPA335 input V&I

Part Number: OPA335

hi dear supporting team,

customer using OPA335 with below circuit: using it sense the battery current with a shunt resistor of 25 mOhm.  sometimes when the battery is shorted, the current will be several hundreds mA, the voltage at PIN3 will be very high (4.2V, seems be clamped by the internal circuit, CH2 blue curve in below) , and CH4 is yellow curve below(ch1).   and there is 3V voltage drop over R93, so the current input to the OPA is 3mA, so will that damage the chip for short term? tks a lot!

  • Vera,

As long as the input current is limited to less than 10mA, OPA335 will not be damage - see page 2 for Absolute Maximum Ratings table:

Please be aware that on a single 3.3V supply the specified input voltage range is only from -0.1V to 1.8V
