INA282: bidirectional current w/ unidirectional reading mode

Hi team,

My customer has a questions on the INA282:

In the case of a bidirectional current inducing a differential Vsense voltage between [-0.5V - + 2V], can they put the INA282 in the unidirectional reading mode without any risk?

Normally, the output will indicate 0V when the negative current is present but they don't need this information.

    Hello Pol,

    Because the INA282 is designed to handle the bidirectional mode the Vsense voltage can go below 0V. The issue will be coming out of that as the output amplifier will be saturated and will need some time to recover and become linear. It may not be an issue.

    Also the output will get saturated at Vsense 2V input as the INA282 was a gain of 20.  You may want to decrease your input voltage by dropping the Rshunt resistor.
