INA214: V+ connected to IN+

Part Number: INA214

Hi All,

For the INA214 the customer would like to connect  V+(pin 3)  to IN+(pin 4), SC70 package, to power the INA214.

Is this possible?

If not customer would like to know what are the constraints on V+ wrt IN+.

Thanks,

Regards,

Joe

  • Hey Joe,

Customer can certainly power the INA214 off the voltage rail the INA214 is sensing current on. As long as the usual absolute maximum and operating conditions are still valid, this connection of V+ to IN+/IN- is fine and should not create any changes in expected device performance.

One thing to note is that when connecting V+ to IN+, customer is sensing the load current and not the true source current. True source current = load current + INA214 supply current. Not sure if this matters for customer, but thought I would mention it.

    Best,

    Peter Iliya
