OPA2188: OPA2188 Ibias tolerance

Part Number: OPA2188
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2187

Hi Support team

OPA2188 Ibias  tolerance / deviation is quit huge from  +/-180pA to +/-850pA , compare to OPA2187 is from +/- 100pA to +/-350pA only

my customer is curious which parameter inside the IC will impact Ibias ?

why OPA2188 Ibias deviation is bigger than other OPA

  • Hi Red,

Thank you for your post. Our lead engineer handling this device is out of office, returning on Monday. We will support you shortly.

  • Hi Red,

    850 / 160 = 5.3 and 350 / 100 = 3.5. I would not call the difference between 5.3 and 3.5 "quite huge".

The specified maximum operating temperature of OPA2188 is 105°C, while the OPA2187 is specified for temperatures up to 125°C. And as the input bias current of a CMOS OPAmp heavily increases at higher temperatures, the OPA2187 should show a smaller input bias current at room temperature. This is either provided by a tighter selection or by a modified fabrication process. Keep in mind that the OPA2187 is a newer chip and might be fabricated with an improved wafer processing...
