INA149-EP: <10s transient voltages

Part Number: INA149-EP

The INA149-EP has an absolute max common mode rating of 500V for 10s. Can it take higher voltages for brief periods of time? Let's say 750V for 10ms? Assuming the 10s rating is a dissipation limit then shorter pulses could be possible. There is a similar question on this forum but it was never answered.

  • Hi Francisco,

As you know, that spec is from the absolute maximum ratings table of the datasheet and we mention that exposure to these ratings for extended periods may degrade device reliability. We are unable to comment on the performance of the device even beyond these ratings as they may cause permanent damage. The absolute maximum ratings are stress ratings only, and functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those specified is not implied.

  • A stress rating is all I'm interested in. Can you comment on stress / damage to the device for the transient I described before?

  • I'm sorry, Francisco, we are unable to comment on that because that is not a test we perform. The datasheet describes 500V for 10 seconds to be the absolute maximum rating. We don't have the device performance at 750V.
