LM139: Unused pin connection

Part Number: LM139
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2903B

Hi,

Could you let me know if below my understanding is correct?

In case of (a), output is low so there is unnecessary consumption for keeping this output.

In case of (b), output is high but LM139 output is open-collector so I think there is no consumption for high output.

(a)

(b)

  • Hello David,

There is about 1uA less supply current when the output is low, so (A) is recommended.

Typical bias current is about 3nA for the LM2903B, which would only put 30uV on the negative input - you may want to bump the resistor up to 10M to get a solid 30mV.
