TLV9064: Min/Max Values for Input Bias Current

Part Number: TLV9064
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP7709

Hi,

I want to use the TLV9064 in a circuit with quite strict requirements for input bias current. The typical value in the datasheet with 0.5pA is perfect, but there are no maximum values in.

For my application I need 5pA max. - is this achievable with the TLV9064?

  • Hello,

For the input bias current, as seen in figure 9 in the datasheet, Ib can fluctuate substantially over the operating temperature range. Are you looking for 5pA max at 25C or over the complete operating temperature range of the amplifier? LMP7709 fulfills the requirement of 5pA max over the operating temp, however it is substantially more expensive than the TLV9064. Knowing more about the performance needs of the circuit would help relax the search and potentially yield a cheaper alternative.

For more refined searches of the portfolio, I would recommend using the Op Amp Selguide or the search function in ti.com.

  • Hi,

the device is temperature stabilized to 22°C, so no variations of the bias current over temperature are relevant for the design. The important value would be the maximum value at 25°C.

Since the OpAmp is used in a disposable part, which will be exchanged quite frequently, the price is a main concern. Is there information available for the maximum input bias current span at nominal temperature?

  • Lucas,

Unfortunately, we can only guarantee the specifications on the datasheet. So if there is not a maximum bias current provided in the datasheet, we cannot guarantee a bias current spec. If this bias current is critical, I would recommend a part with a specified maximum bias current like the LMP7709.
