ISO224: Creepage Distance reinforced isolation working voltage

Part Number: ISO224
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO124

Hello,

in my application there could be an worst case working voltage above the isolation barrier of 1600VDC. The data sheet promises reinforced insulation for this situation (up to 2120VDC).

If i compare the creepage distance wich is required in my DIN standard (62477-1) with the creepage distance in the data sheet, i see a discrepancy. According to my standard I need at 1600V isolation working voltage 8mm creepage distance for basic insulation and 16mm for reinforced insulation at polution degree 2 material class 1. The ISO224 provides 8,5mm creepage distance and promises reinforced insulation.

In this case I cannot use the ISO224 for my application. Do you have an explanation for my problem? Am I misinterpreting the data sheet?

Best Regards

Thomas
