AMC1302: AMC1302 or AMC1300B

Part Number: AMC1302
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1300

Hi,

I am working on the current detection problem of AC motor. The shunt resistor scheme is used to detect ac current. There are two isolated amplifiers that I can select, AMC1300B and AMC1302.

I compared the parameters of the two amplifiers, there is no difference except the input range and the gain.

AMC1300B: 250mV input voltage range, fixed gain 8.2;

AMC1302: 50mV input voltage range, fixed gain 41;

But this input range is determined by the detection current and the sense resistance. When the detection current is constant, AMC1300B or AMC1302 can be selected as long as sense resistor are selected.

So,I want to ask what is the difference between AMC1300B and AMC1302. When the detection current is 0~30A ac, AMC1300B + 6mΩ sense resistor or AMC1302 + 1mΩ  sense resistor?

  • Hi there -

    Welcopme to our e2e forum!  The difference between the AMC1300 and AMC1302 is, as you noted, the input voltage range and the gain.  The shunt resistor is going to have more power dissipation in one case versus the other, otherwise the performance is the same.
