    Hello Louis,

    The 8 Ampere current is only part of the information that is needed when determining the heat sink and/or fan requirements. Additionally, you will need to determine the following:

    • Supply voltage or voltages that will be used to power the OPA549-HIREL
    • Output voltage and current waveform characteristic; waveform type (sine, square, etc.), amplitude, frequency
    • Output load resistance, or the impedance characteristics if the load is complex (Z = R +/- jX)
    • Schematic of the OPA549-HIREL application circuit
    • Temperature of OPA549-HIREL surrounding environment

    I suggest that to begin the determination of the OPA549-HIREL heat sink that you review the following Application Bulletin:
