XTR101 wiring with LM35

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR101, LM35, XTR117, XTR115, XTR116

Hello. If we refer to XTR101 datasheet page 9, figure 5, we have seen a floating source e2' connected with proper input biasing with use of R2=2.5k. Now I wish to connect LM35 temperature sensor which is a fixed voltage source having Vcc, Gnd and Vout. How to wire it to XTR101 IC.? Mentioning input e1 pin 3 of XTR101 cant be grounded for single ended source because of linear response at 5V above pin 7. Please help me with some diagram.

  • Hello User,

Consider using the XTR115, XTR116, or XTR117 products which have a similar output stage to the XTR101 but feature an input stage that accepts GND (IRET) referenced signals as shown in Figure 3 in the datasheet below.  You may need an input amplification and offsetting stage to level shift and scale the LM35 output depending on the temperature range you're trying to scale to 4-20mA.

  • Thanks for fast reply. So what I have to do is connect Vreg of XTR117 (5V) to LM35 Vcc, Ground of LM35 to Iret pin 3 of XTR117 and Output of LM35 to suitable Rin to pin 2 of XTR117 . I hope that will do my job.
