OP07: Functional Block Diagram

Part Number: OP07
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UA741,

Hi E2E,

Good day.

Can you please confirm if the functional block diagram of OP07C/OP07D Precision Op-amp indicated on section 9.2 and UA741 General Op-amp indicated on section 7.2 are the same according to the datasheet?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Best regards.

  • Hello Carlo,
I am moving your question to the group that supports precision amplifiers for a quicker reply.

  • Hi Kirby,

Do we have updates any updates on this?

    Thank you.
  • Hi Carlo,

The functional block diagrams shown in OP07C/OP07D Fig. 9.2 and UA741 Fig. 7.2 are the same; however, the diagrams are general purpose in nature and don't necessarily show all the circuit details. Certainly, the OP07C/OP07D much higher electrical performances when compared to the UA741 come about from more advanced processing and circuit techniques not revealed in the functional block diagrams.

Functionally, the OP07C/OP07D should be able to drop into almost any UA741 application circuit. But note there is one notable pin-out difference between them. The OP07C/OP07D offset control pins are 1 and 8 (pin 5 NC), while for the UA741 they are pins 1 and 5 (pin 8 NC). If the offset control pins are not used and simple left to float on the PC board, then one should be able to plug in the OP07C/OP07D or UA741 and obtain circuit functionality. Do note that the circuit performances obtained will be different due to each Op amp's different levels of electrical performances.

    Regards, Thomas
