OP07: Can you tell me if OP07 can implement the following Settings

Part Number: OP07

Hi guys:

      Can you tell me if OP07 can implement the following Settings?

      1、 Can it be set to positive voltage only, no need for negative voltage for OP07;

      2、 Don't need to set the positive voltage and the negative voltage to zero

Thank you!

  • Hello Tony,

    I am moving your thread to the group that supports precision amplifiers.

  • Hello Tony,

    I am not completely sure which voltages you are asking about with regards to the OP07, but expect they are the Vcc+ and Vcc- supplies. Regarding your questions:

    Can you tell me if OP07 can implement the following Settings?

    1、 Can it be set to positive voltage only, no need for negative voltage for OP07

    The OP07 may be powered from a single +Vcc 0 V supply providing attention is paid to the Common-Mode Input Voltage Range - VICR, and Peak Output Voltage - VOM specifications. You will find these in the datasheet Section 7.5, Electrical Characteristics table. Their ranges are specified relative to 0 V for dual (Vcc+/Vcc-) supplies, where 0 V is the mid-scale voltage level - half way between -15 V and +15 V. However, with a single power supply such as as +30 V, the mid-scale voltage moves from 0 V up to +15 V. Therefore, VICR and VOM would have the same specified voltage ranges but now they are with respect +15 V, the new mid-scale voltage level.

    For more information regarding using a dual supply Op amp with a single supply see the following Applications Bulletin. It has a lot of useful information:

          2、 Don't need to set the positive voltage and the negative voltage to zero

    I believe you are asking if the OP07 can be powered by asymmetrical supplies such as +20 V/-10 V, or +10 V/-20 V, etc? Indeed it can, be but mindful of the the VICR and VOM ranges discussed above when applying them to the two different supply levels.
