INA198: Full-Scale Input Voltage

Part Number: INA198
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA193, INA196, INA197, INA194, INA195,

Hi,

Full-Scale Input Voltage is specified 0.15V(typ).

How condition is this?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hello Kuramochi-san,

This typical spec for full-scale input voltage is not actually very useful. The 0.15V shown just gives the user an idea of the typical range of input voltage for these devices. For example, 10A of current through a 15mΩ shunt would result in 0.15V.

What is more useful is the max spec, which shows the max input voltage that can be applied before the device output goes into saturation. This is controlled by the swing to V+ power-supply rail spec, and dependent on both power supply voltage VS and gain of the device version.

    For example:

    If VS = 12V,

    • INA193, INA196 - Vsense_max = (12 - 0.2) / 20 = 0.59 V
    • INA194, INA197 - Vsense_max = (12 - 0.2) / 50 = 0.236 V
    • INA195, INA198 - Vsense_max = (12 - 0.2) / 100 = 0.118 V
