THP210: Output voltage

Part Number: THP210

What is the maximum output voltage when using a single supply (5V)?

  • Hi,

The output swing of amplifiers is dependent on supply voltage, output load conditions and temperature.  The THP210 datasheet provides an output swing of typical ~100mV when using +/-2.5V supply rail supplies, or equivalently ~100mV to 4.9V when using single unipolar supply +5V.   This is for the circuit condition, RIN = RFB = 2 kOhm and Rload resistor 10kOhm connected differentially between OUT+ and OUT-.  Please note, in this condition the Fully-Differential Amplifier output is saturated to the output rail, outside its linear region.  See below typical output voltage swing specification.

If you want to design the circuit for linear performance, I typically use the more conservative output swing conditions provided on the AOL (open-loop gain) specification.  For example, the THP210 specifies an output swing of about 0.3V from the supply rails while meeting AOL performance.

    Thank you and Regards,

    Luis
