LM306: Application inquiry

Part Number: LM306

Hello Team,

Good day.

My customer, using LM306 and wanted why the Voh is +15V, Vol is near 0V when Vcc+ is set to +15V, and the Vcc- is set to -5V.

If 'LM306' can't work with Vol=-5V/Voh=+15V. Could you help to recommend some other voltage comparator with Vol=-5V/Voh=+15V and similar speed?

Regards,

Renan

  • Hello Renan,

Where did they connect the GND pin?

The GND pin sets the VOL voltage. See the internal schematic on page 2.

This device was designed to accept split supplies with bipolar inputs and output a ground-referenced open-collector output for logic inputs. The VCC- is only used for the input stage so it can accept negative voltages.

If they want the output to swing to V-, then they need to tie the GND pin to VCC-.
