DRV2604 / output overdrive clamp setting

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2604

Hello,
I would like to know some quesitons about DRV2604.
Please see the attached file as our output waveform.
If we need private discussion, please contact to e-mail address of following.
asaka-r@clv.macnica.co.jp

(1) setting the ODClamp register
Could you please let me know the setting method of ODClamp register ?

We use the actuator which has 2Vrms rated.
Thus, we should program the Rated Voltage below 2V.
However, I can't understood the basis of deciding ODClamp register.

(2) Frequency setting
Can I change the fLRA to any freaquency?
We woul like to set the frequency as following.

fLRA range: 195~215Hz
resolution : 1Hz

(3) Attached waveform
Could you please confirm attached waveform is within specified rated voltage of 2Vrms ?
Followings are current settings.
LRA , Closed Loop, Uni-directional.
Rated Voltage 0x40
ODClamp 0x70

  • Ryuji-san,

The OD Clamp can be usually set around 3-3.3V for a 2V rated LRA. OD clamp register affects the startup time of the actuator.

The attached waveform looks like rated voltage is 1.59V.

    What actuator is being used?

    Thanks,

    Gautham

  • Hello Gautham san,

    Thank you for the reply.
I'll check the actuator for my customer and let you know.

Could you please let me know where in the waveform without LPF would change when we change the ODClamp register?
    I understood that the following.

Change the Rated Voltage ---> Change the Duty of DRV2604 Output
Change the ODClamp        ---> Change the Amplitude of DRV2604 Output

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji
  • Ryuji-san,

The OD clamp is the "initial push" given to the actuator at the start of the waveform. During OD Clamp phase, the motor is driven at higher than the rated voltage for a quick startup.

Below is a picture of what it looks like. The rated voltage is used during normal operation of the driver.

  • Hello Gautham san,

Thank you for the reply and sorry for my basic questions....
Please let me ask two more questions.
    (1)
I can't get the your attached waveform or acceleration waveform in the datasheet by EVM...
Could you please let me know the measurement method of acceleration waveform ?

    (2)
Also I would like to know about VOD voltage which is calculated ODClamp[7:0] x 5.44V/255.
Attached waveform is default value of EVM. Thus, VOD is about 3.6V.
However, the attached waveform Vpp exceed this 3.6V.
Could you please let me know that where we can check the VOD in the waveform?

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji
  • Hello Gautham san,

I got the datasheet of Actuator from my customer but this is custom device for them.
Thus, I will send the documents directly to you.

Also I understood the ODClamp voltage and VOD voltage.
Sorry for bothering you. Please ignore my previous post.

    Best Regards,
    Ryuji

  • Ryuji-san,

Great. Please keep us posted if you need anything.

    Regards,
