THS3062: How to amplify high-speed op amp's output current to drive load

Part Number: THS3062
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4631

Dear TI expert,

My application is simplified as Fig1. In Fig1, high-speed op amps’ candidates are THS4631 and THS3062. The load is modelled as RC series branch and their approximate values are given. Four key quantities, Vg Vop iop and ig are shown in Fig1.

Fig1

The op amp should drive the RC load. However, the maximum output current for high-speed op amps(supply voltage ±15V) iop is only about 100mA. So, I’m looking for a component(X in Fig1) to amplify op amp’s current iop to ig, while in the same time, Vg should follow Vop well.

Below are details. Op amp’s Vop is depicted as Fig2. It’s of 40us period. During 0~0.8us, Vop rises from -15V to +15V and during 20us~20.8us, Vop falls from +15V to -15V. The waveform repeats after 40us.

In Fig2, due to the whole system’s control effects, during one period, ig is very large in only two intervals 0~0.3us(10 Amperes) and 20us~20.3us(-10 Amperes). In the rest intervals, ig’s magnitude is smaller than 1A.

Fig 2.

So, dear TI expert, to meet the current-amplifying (100mA amplified to 10A) and voltage-following goals, can you please recommend the component X in Fig1 or the approaches to this problem?

Best regards!
