Transimpedance amplifiers for 4-20mA loop conversion before PGA and ADC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RCV420

Is there any transimpedance amplifier that can do a 4-20mA current measurement and convert before feeding to PGA and ADC? Any other suggestions for sensor 4-20mA measuring and dig conversion?

Thanks!

  • Hi Harini,

Do you know the frequency at which you want the 4-20mA current measurement done using the transimpedance amplifier (TIA)? Also, photodiode part number used for the current measurement would be helpful, along with the desired output swing at the TIA.

As such, we do have several TIAs which can be used to convert current to voltage and can be found here: www.ti.com/.../products.html. However, to narrow down the part selection, it would be helpful to understand the maximum frequency and photodiode capacitance in-order to suggest the right part for your application.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Rohit,

Thanks for the information. What I am trying to measure is a 4-20 mA signal from sensors like pressure or flow transmitters. I do not have too much idea on the maximum frequency though. I am working to arrive at what might be our desired range.

    Thanks

    Harini

  • Hi Harini,

you might want to have a look at the RCV420.
