We want this forum to be a friendly place to get advice and share ideas. The majority of answers currently come from TI employees with the specific responsibility of supporting our analog products. We feel a sense of ownership of our products and we want you to be successful in using them.
Often, other forum members reply with their own answers, suggestions and opinions. We welcome answers your answers and suggestions, striving for a friendly environment where analog engineers of all skill levels can solve problems and grow their skills. We learn from one another.
Posting Your Question…
The detail you provide in your first posting can greatly expedite a quality answer. Provide plenty of information: Schematic. Scope shots. Power supply voltages. Type of signals. Required bandwidth. Voltage data. Try to anticipate what we and other readers need to provide advice. Generic information is helpful such as “a non-inverting G=100 amplifier,” but it is immensely helpful if you can tell us what type of equipment you are making…”to sense ECG signals in a portable application.” This helps define the issues that might be important.
A picture is worth 1000 words but be sure the images you attach are readable. You will see your posting after you upload an image. It you can’t read it, please enlarge it or use another approach. Attachments come through as a file and this approach is often better for larger images. We can open and use common file types including those from MS-Office. Special, less common file types may be a problem. Tina SPICE circuit files are great. We can open them and repeat your simulations.
Can’t Share Some Details?
Obviously, this forum is public. We understand that you may not be able to share all details. We encourage you to share as much as you can so others can learn and help. If absolutely necessary, we will take your issue off line, communicating by private email or phone call.
New Question, New Posting
Occasionally you may read a thread and it will trigger another question. Unless it is directly related to the original thread, it is best to start a new posting. Long threads that wonder off the original topic are less useful to others.
We tend to be a catch-all forum for topics when you’re not sure of the best home. Don’t be offended if we move your question to another forum (you will be notified). We’re trying to connect you with the best support for your question. Sometimes it requires a second move. If you have another related question, it’s probably best to post it to the final landing spot of your first question.
We try to respond to questions promptly, most often within 24 hours. We often do not respond in the order that questions are posted. Many of us contribute and the best person to answer your question may be unavailable.
We are pleased that you have come to us for assistance on your project and we are eager to help you use our components. Please start by reading data sheets for the products you are considering. We may be able to help you understand some basic issues our analog components but we can’t become your private tutor. Please don’t post your homework questions.
