TLC555-Q1 , Astable operation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC555-Q1

Hello,

I have the following questions about TLC555-Q1

1. EN function
Is the /RESET pin of TLC555-Q1 used for Enable pin?

2. OUTPUT state
Is the OUTPUT pin in Hi - Z state when not used or disabled?

3. Duty 25%, Frequency 40Hz
Why do we need to add a diode in parallel with R2 when the duty is 50% or less?

Best Regards,
Ryuji Asaka

  • Hello Asaka-san,

I've assigned this post to the appropriate applications engineer, she will respond to your question.

  • 1- Yes the RESET pin can be used as enable. RESET is low and the output is low. RESET is high the output is switching.

2- The output is not a Hi-Z. It is high or low.

3- What R2 you are referring to? are you referring to figure 6 in Q1 datasheet? diode in parallel with Rb helps to discharge faster the timing capacitor and this may be used to achieve higher duty cycle. The high level duration is proportional to Ra + Rb and the low level duration in proportional to only Rb

I hope this answers your questions
