DRV8802 Question about Over Current Protection (OCP)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8802

Hi,

On the datasheet for DRV8802 (p.10  Over Current Protection), it is described as below;

---------------------------------------

If this analog current limit persists for longer than the OCP time, all FETs in the H-bridge will be disabled and the
nFAULT pin will be driven low.

---------------------------------------

Can you please advise me the time for "OCP time"?  I can not find it on the datasheet.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Hide,

    There two time for OCP.

    One is for short protection, an independent analog circuit (not the current sense circuit) will protect the internal FET by reducing the gate driving by about 400ns lower down the short current to safe level.

    Another one is the same as TBLANK as 3.75us. After that time, is the current level is higher than I_ocp (1.8 ~ 5A), nfault will be asserted. If the level is bigger than setting level and smaller than I_ocp level, current regulation will take effect.

    Thanks.
