Hello,

I've been evaluating the DRV8704 and DRV8701 drivers for a product I am developing on. Although it appears DRV8704 is far better suited to controlling the two H-Bridges I have, I notice it lacks mention of Reverse Supply Protection as found in DRV8701's datasheet, section 7.3.14. Is there a reason for this related to the hardware of DRV8704? Or can I implement similar reverse supply protection using the section in the 8701 datasheet as a guideline?

    Hi Matt,

    The DRV8704 was not designed to implement reverse battery protection. If you need reverse battery protection for the DRV8704, please consider an alternate method such as:


    1) Placing the N-channel in the ground path instead of the VM path
    2) Using a P-channel instead of an N-channel in the VM path
    3) Using a diode the VM path
