PCM5100A-Q1: What are the working frequencies of it

Just want to confirm that what are the sample frequencies of PCM5100A? Does it support 22Khz or must be 44Khz or some frequency value else? Customer used 22Khz but the PCM5100A did not work, while they used 44Khz the PCM5100A could work normally. So I would like to ask what are all the frequencies for PCM5100A for normally working, have checked datasheet but a little bit confused so need your confirmation for listing every sample frequency PCM5100A could work. Thank you very much.

Hi Zirui,

The PCM510xA family only operates at a select number of samples rates. The device uses an auto-detect feature that has limited resolution.

Clock values that fall in between these frequencies will likely result in a misconfiguration, which will live sub-optimal performance, and sometimes prevent operation.

They can use the programmable PCM5122 variant to support other rates, as the clock tree can be manually configured. Those devices would require an SPI or I2C controller to be configured.

Thank you and I would like to ask if we disable the internal PLL and use external SCLK, does it support other sample rates or still only support these typical sample rates?

When using 4-wire mode, the device will still try to automatically detect the sample rate. This will usually result in the device configuring itself for a 16ksps or 32ksps configuration, but it is not guaranteed. In both cases, the charge pump will not be in its optimum configuration, so the minimum load will be compromised.

The PCM1753/54-Q1 can use 22.05kSPS with a 4-wire configuration as well.

Thanks and just to confirm that when using the standard 3-wire mode with external SCLK disabling the internal PLL, could the device support 22Khz LRCK sample rate?
