TPA3255EVM: question about the TPA3255EVM quick start guide

Part Number: TPA3255EVM

Hi team,

I got a question from customer about the TPA3255EVM quick start guide.

www.ti.com.cn/.../slou458.pdf

1.running one channel PSTL, how to connect the mono input?
do I parallel the mono input to both J3 and J18?
can you help me inderstand step 5 on page 3?

2.does the reset switch need to be in the reset setting each time the power is applied to the unit?or may it be left in normal after first start up?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

  • Hi,

    1. For PBTL operation, INPUT_C and D are shorted to GND. Audio input should be applied on INPUT_A and INPUT_B. On EVM, if you use SE input mode, the input should be applied on J3.

    2. We would recommend to release the Reset only after the power is ready. As shown on datasheet section 11.2.

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Sam

  • Hi Zhang,

    Thank you for your help.

AWS: We would recommend to release the Reset only after the power is ready. As shown on datasheet section 11.2.
"hold RESET low for at least 250 ms after PVDD supply voltage is turned ON. "
This really limits the use of this amp! May we add a "delay-relay" of some kind to fix this issue?

The last paragraph of 9.1 overview, it states that the unit is fully protected if energized in the "normal" switch position. Only that some noise may be heard in the speakers. Is that correct?

    Thanks,

    Best regards,

  • Hi,

Yes, it mainly for avoiding audible pop-click noise. Usually the RESET is controlled by a GPIO. It can also used to set the device into standby (reset) mode to save power in idle status.
