PCM5121: replacement solution

Hi Team,

Due to the shortage of PCM5121, can we used PCM5141 to replace it? I found out that they are P2P, also according to the E2E post below, PCM5141 provide the addition feature.

Is there any concern to replace PCM5121 with PCM5141 directly? Thank you.

Hi Mike, the main difference between the devices is that the PCM512x family has some miniDSP instructions in ROM, where the PCM514x family have instruction memory that can be directly accessed. This means that you could implement customer DSP flows. You could re-create the exact PCM5122 flow in the PCM5142, but you will have to manually write the instruction memory. If you are not using the miniDSP process flow features, then the devices are identical in performance and operation.

That is true assuming the FW is using the miniDSP process flow. The configuration registers can be shared.
