TLV320AIC14K: Latch-up stop due to airborne noise

Guru 11170 points
Part Number: TLV320AIC14K

Holle E2E,

Our customer is testing the new board that it using the TLV320AIC14K.
At airborne noise, the device has latched up and stop, it has heat.
After, the device make reset operation from MCU, but the device has heat still.
The device will come back when power cycle the device.

Which of IO VDD, DR VDD, DVDD, and A VDD is effective for power-on reset?

Regards,
ACGUY

  • Hi ACGUY,

This does sound like an SCR type latch up state.  The System Reset and Power Management section of the TLV320AIC14K datasheet describes the typical reset function of the chip.  If you can determine which supply is drawing excess current (causing the heating), you might be able to locate the cause of the issue and then determine what countermeasures you may need to use to prevent the situation from happening.  Countermeasures include series resistors, transorbs, Schottky diodes, etc.  You may also need to change your layout.
