TPA2025D1: TI TINA simulation questions

Part Number: TPA2025D1

I downloaded the TPA2025D1 macro from the TI website and created the following circuit, I basically wanted to simulate the circuit of the evaluation board.  I have a few questions:

  1. I want to simulate using different inductance values but there is no SW pin. I want to monitor the ripple current. Is there a way to do that?
  2. When I used oscilloscope to monitor output (Vout+ or Vout-) I got convergence problem error. my simulation file attached. What did I do wrong?
  3. I did not include ferrite beads (same one in the evaluation board ) in the output because I am not sure how to do that, Should I use the RLC equivalent circuit? The vendors do not generally provide that information. Not sure how to simulate that.

Thanks.

  • Hello Andy, let me run the simulations and see what adjustments are needed to fix the convergence issue. Also i think they oversimplified the boost converter model  and dropped SW pin. I will look into that too and will let you know.

  • I was able to run the simulation by   selecting "use initial conditions" or "Zero initial conditions". So do not use "calculate the initial conditions" to avoid convergence issue.

The model is encrypted and can not be modified, so you don't have the option for SW pin nor can modify the model to add the pin and its functionality. If you can not find models for ferrite beads online you have to  try some sort of RLC to mimic it.
