Part Number: TAS2560EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2560, TAS2110

Download unsuccessful

Hardware ID is incorrect

Audio sound card detected and unambiguous

Audio sound card sampling frequency is good

Unable to playback audio

PC:  Lenovo Thinkpad

OS:  windows 10

TAS2560EVM connected to 5V supply,   USB connected to PC

-  PC successfully detects audio device and connects to it

- device listed as  "Line (2-USB-AudioEVM)"

- properties shows 2-channel 16-bit 48KHz device   (TEST from Windows device manager  doesn't produce any sound)

- Board seems to be up.  I2S CLKs are running

  • Hello,

The TAS2560EVM will need to be configured before it will be able to output sound so getting it to communicate with PPC3 might solve the rest of your issues. When you say "Download unsuccessful" what are you referring to? This makes me wonder if the PPC3 app or the TAS2560 plug in didn't install properly. Additionally, it seems like the computer recognized the EVM correctly, but you could try a different USB cable to see if that helps the PPC3 GUI detect the EVM.

    Thank you,
    Justin Beigel

  • Hi Justin,

"Download unsuccessful"  is from System Check (Hardware check)

I have tried 2 different cables -  including one that came with EVM - same result - PPC3 cannot connect (or detect?)  but PC can.

How can i check if the TAS2560 plug in installed correctly,   or re-install it.

  • Hi Justin,

Do you have any suggestions or ideas to try?  I'm stuck.

  • Hello,

If you want to try re-installing the plug in, you can hover over it in PPC3, and a red x will appear in the lower right corner. This will allow you to uninstall the app and then you can re-install it the same way you did the first time.

    Best Regards,

    Justin Beigel

  • Hi Justin,

I did that,  also tried running the app in compatibility mode (win 7)   my os is win10.   But no luck.

the USB connection is working, as the PC has no issues detecting the audio card. the power is correct.

Just to clarify, the TAS2560EVM is directly connected to PC.

How can I use this EVM?  plz help.

  • Hello,

Can you take a picture or confirm your jumper settings just incase that is part of the problem?

    Thank you,

    Justin Beigel

  • Hi Eresh,

Could you please check the following and let us know what you get?

    • Measure VBAT voltage at J2
    • Measure VDD voltage at J4
    • Measure IOVDD voltage at J7
    • Power up the EVM, and inspect I2C lines when connecting it to the PC. Do you see any communication on the bus? Just check if signals are changing, not necessary to specify the data itself.

Do you have only one board to test? Just want to check if you can try with another one.
It could be that TAS2110 controller on board is not getting the correct firmware from EEPROM, I'll check if we can get it updated on your end.

  • Hi Ivan,

    • Measure VBAT voltage at J2

    ES>  VBAT = 4.9V

    • Measure VDD voltage at J4

    ES> VDD = 1.8V

    • Measure IOVDD voltage at J7

    ES> VDD = 1.8V

    • Power up the EVM, and inspect I2C lines when connecting it to the PC. Do you see any communication on the bus? Just check if signals are changing, not necessary to specify the data itself.

ES>  I see that they're pulled up to 3.3V.   I don't have the equipment right now, i'll check for bus activity later today.

I only have this one board.  Please let me know on the firmware update.

Is it possible to contact you and team directly?  I contacted sales rep for your company (nauto.com) but haven't heard back.

please provide email address - I'd like to setup conference call.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Eresh,

Let me reach out to you directly over direct message, then I can share email details.

  • Hi Eresh,

Please let us know how it goes with the new EVM once you get it. We may close this thread if everything goes OK.
