TLV320DAC3203: Digital mic configuration and application note conflicts

Part Number: TLV320DAC3203

For device TLV320DAC3203 I am using SLOS756B product specification  (Dec 2018) together with Application note SLAU434A (February 2019) seeking to configure use with a digital microphone.

Please can you provide details of the missing registers in the application note (marked as 'reserved) which apply to the digital microphone (e.g. 0x12 NADC, 0x13, MADC, 0x51 - (confused with 0x50?)). Maybe there is an errata sheet, or an updated application note?

Thank you for your help.

  • Any chance of some feedback on this....it's been a long day!

  • Hi Brian,

Sorry for the inconvenience on the register names, it seems either the PDM feature was included after register map was setup in the documents, or it was taken form another device that didn't feature PDM interface as reference.

In any case, you can still see the correct values and names and setup the device using the GUI.
GUI provides controls on ADC clocks (NADC, MADC) at the digital settings panel. You can expect similar settings as NDAC and MDAC, as you can see in the clock diagrams you can either use NDAC/MDAC dividers for ADC by powering down NADC and MADC, or power them up and set different clock values for ADC and DAC:

In addition, from audio inputs panel you can setup PDM interface:

And one last thing, there is an example to use PDM loopback for PDM mic playback at the output:

These should help you configure the device using PDM, let us know if you have any further questions.

  • Thanks for your help.  Issue is now sorted, but not great that one has to buy the eval kit in order to discover the register settings!
