TAS2557: Can use DOUT1 connect Echo Canceller?

Part Number: TAS2557
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2563

Hi team,

My customer wants to design in TAS2557 and here have some questions about DOUT1 and DOUT2.

1. Can they connect DOUT1 pin to Echo Canceller? (As datasheet's block diagram DOUT1 connect to BaseBand and DOUT2 connect Echo Canceller)

2. Is there any different between DOU1 and DOUT2?

  • Hi Len,

We're usually recommending to use ASI1 for echo reference (along with other feedback data) and ASI2 for stereo sync, let me double check as it seems data sheet needs to be updated.
If you have EVM available, you can try a simple configuration and check DOUT1, you should get the data based on your configuration from PPC3 End System Integration.

One additional question: How was TAS2557 selected for this application? There are more recent smart amps like TAS2563 you may want to take a look.

  • Hi Salazar,

    Thanks for your reply.

This EE is a portable microphone. And I'll propose new solution at next gen.

And we don't have a EVM for test now, so could you please help to check this?

Do we have some document or test report that mentions about this, so that I can provide to our customer?

  • Hi Len,

I can confirm the feedback data from device is coming out from DOUT1, not DOUT2, please inform customer about this.
I'll check with the team so that we update this on the data sheet, it should match the configuration from PPC3.
