TAS5825M: What is the difference between TAS5825M, TAS5825P and TAS5822M?

Part Number: TAS5825M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5805M, TAS5806M, TAS5822M, , TAS5825P, TAS5805, TAS5806MD

Hello, what is the key diffrence between these smart amp ics besides the packaging? They all have very similar power ranges. Is there a smart amp selection guide? Thx

Additionally TAS5825M has more flexible process flows and SmartAmp speaker protection technology, the TAS5825P has our Hybrid Pro algorithm for battery life extension, TAS5822M,TAS5805M, TAS5806M have more limited fixed process flows.

    best regards,

    Luis

  • Thank you. The only difference between TAS5805 and TAS5806 is the package, correct?

What are the added DSP flow and smart protection features in TAS5825?

  • Hello Mustafa,

TAS5806M is a different package/pinout but essentially the same device, the TAS5806MD has a integrated headphone driver and the TAS5806M has this headphone driver removed and the relevant pins NC'd

TAS5825M has a configurable RAM flows that has multiple processing blocks that can be selected such as Dynamic Parametric Equalizers, Spatializers, Crossover filters, PVDD Sensing, 4-level thermal foldback, Hybrid Modulation, and SmartAmp. SmartAmp features are excursion control/bass morphing, look-ahead limiter, thermal limiter, anti-clipper. TAS5825 also supports up to 192kHz sampling rate compared to the 96k for our other devices.

    best regards,

    Luis

  • Thank you, Luis. You can easily compare devices on the website based on their power level and packages, but the Smart features are unclear. It would be beneficial if the team could create a selection guide document to highlight these different smart features. If one exists and I am just missing it, please let me know about it. Thx

  • Hello Mustafa,

Currently we don't have a selection guide but we do have this video for Smartamp https://training.ti.com/smartamp and the product page for our devices has more collateral and info on the different features.

    best regards,

    Luis
