TAS5825M: Difference between AGL and DRC settings in PPC3

Part Number: TAS5825M

Hi Team,

My customer is looking for a more detailed description and functionality difference between setting DRC and AGL in the 5825 PPC3 that is not mentioned in the SLAA894 document.

He would also like to know the relationship between AGL/OTFB and how it's implemented.

thanks!

  • Hi Andy

There's no further materials about AGL and DRC. The most important difference is the AGL will takes effect more quickly than DRC. You can use AGL to avoid clipping, especially when sometimes there's a sudden change. And use DRC to restrain different frequency signals to realize sound effect and protect the speaker.

AGL and OTFB use same block, the attack and release settings will affect them both. And if you set both AGL and OTFB threshold, our device will take the smaller one to retrain output power.
