TAS5634EVM: USB connectivity issue

Part Number: TAS5634EVM

I am currently trying to program the TAS5634EVM through PPC V1.16. I have successfully flashed code onto it and it is operating within specifications.

However, during my time of trying to implement my configuration with PPC v1.16 there is a problem of achieving a solid USB lock with the evaluation board in Windows.
Sometimes I have to toggle USB_RESET or even switch over USB ports in order to get proper functionality.

Is windows trying to assign the TAS5634EVM USB driver to different ports and the drivers get conflicted with PPC?

What is causing this USB driver issue and why is it so difficult to connect PPC v1.16 to the TAS5634EVM board?

  • Hello Robert,

I don't have a good answer to this. this board was developed at 10 years before, with the upgrade of window version, i am not sure if the USB drive unstable problem is related to windows version.

  • Dear Dylan,

I have been able to replicate the issue on my end. I cannot have any TI EVM boards via USB connected to my target PC. It will only work correctly if I unplug all TI EVM USB cables from my target PC and then running PPC V1.16 in that order. If I start PPC V1.16 with a TI EVM board connected BEFORE it will cause nothing but problems.

The other issue I have found is with Windows assigning drivers to the TI EVM USB. If I use a USB hub with multiple ports, Windows will try to reinstall the USB driver as "Line (USB-AudioEVM)" which has been assigned to one my ports on my USB hub. If I move the USB cable to another port, Windows will load the USB drivers as "Line(4- USB-AudioEVM)" and I cannot pass audio through the device.

Once I replug my USB cable into the adjacent USB port I am only able to pass audio consistently on that specific port. This eval board is sensitive to the USB driver/Windows port allocation.

  • Robert,

As there is one port available to use, i would recommend you go ahead your evaluation with that.  As to the USB port selectivity problem, I am requesting an EVM board to try.
