TLV320AIC3256: Biquad filter coefficients (derived from sampling rate A) for a different sampling rate B

Part Number: TLV320AIC3256

Hello,

As part of my design, we have 3 biquad filters where the coefficients were calculated based on a 32kHz sampling rate.

Is it possible that we could use the same filter coefficients if we cut the sample rate in half, and the Nyquist frequency?
In other words, we're sampling at 32kHz presumably with a Nyquist frequency of 16KHz. If we sampled at 16kHz with a Nyquist frequency of 8KHz, do the coefficients remain the same?
  • Hello Santhosh,

Yes, you can use the same coefficients but the filter cut-off frequency will scale with the sampling rate. For example, if you have a lowpass filter with roll-off at 2kHz that is calculated for a 16kHz sampling rate.. when the sample rate is changed to 8kHz the roll-off will scale down to 1kHz.
