TAS5634: TAS5634 gain calculation

Part Number: TAS5634
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5538

Hi team,

how to calculate the TAS5634 amplifier gain?

is it the same as below:

The gain is,

  • SE Gain = 12.92V/V, or 22.2dB;
  • BTL Gain = 25.84V/V, or 28.2dB.

Calculation method is, i.e., -20dBFS input level, 97.7% modulation limit,

Output voltage = 0.1 (-20dBFS) * 3.3V(PWM input rail) *25.84V/V *97.7% = 8.33Vrms.

  • Anderson,

    Yes, your calculation is correct.

    For power stage only:

    Gain = [(Level shifter V)/(3.3V)]*(resistor feedback gain)

             =[(7.75V)/(3.3V)]*(5.5)=12.9V/V

    Gain in dB = 20 log10 (12.9) = 22.2dB

    Connected with modulator:

    input signal level(-20dBFS -> 0.1) * PWM duty ratio(93.7%(default) -> 0.937) (TAS5538) *  3.3(PWM signal level) * Gain(12.9,fixed gain) = Output Signal Level(Vpp)
