TPA3255: Power limitation of TPA3255

Part Number: TPA3255
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA325

Hi team,

Glad to reach out to you. Hope everything well. There are some confusion about TPA3255 from my side.

1. If TPA3255 is used to drive 100W 4ohm speaker, is there any solutions to limit the TPA325  power output for speak protection?

2. Does TPA3255 support three channel audio output?

3. Is there a relationship between total harmonic distortion(THD) and supply voltage? , or is only related to the total output power

Regards,

Jasper

  • Hi Jasper

       1. TPA3255 only have DC output protection for speaker, can't protect the speaker from the power output. You need to test your speaker's working condition, and restrain the input signal level into the TPA3255.

       2. You can use only 3 channel, and leave another channel in Hi-Z.

       3. When the voltage goes higher, the THD will be a little worse, also the efficiency will become worse. But if you want to output a higher power, you have to use a higher supply voltage. Choose the supply voltage as you need.
