PCM1808: Current capabilities of VREF pin

Hello,

It is not clear to me from studying the datasheet and e2e topics related to Vref pin from PCM1808.

I know that Vref pin is not intended to work as an output and it can't be used for virtual ground itself, but can I use that voltage to generate virtual GND using for example MCP6292 to get better noise performance?

Hi Damien,

the Vref pin should only be connected to a decoupling capacitor to GND, or to a high impedance input such as the input of an opamp.

If you want to use Vref as virtual GND I would recommend the part OPA1632. this part is used on the PCM4202 EVM (this part is very similar to PCM1808)

Hi Arthur,

Thank you for your quick response, now everything seems clear.

I will use other low noise amplifier because I want stick to SOT23-8 package - recommendations are welcome.
