User guide for CC8521 states that USB functionality only works in “Autonomous Operation Mode”. In that mode, can the side channel data be still moved in/out of the external host? Can the USB interface protocol be modified by users to include specific security and handshake operations? Can it be modified to direct some of the side-channel data traffic into the USB interface?

Is CC8521 a ROM or Flash based device?

    Hi Angela, 

    The USB functionality is fixed and can not be altered by customers nor is the side data channel available in USB mode. 
    We will implement some HID function that will allow some audio controls like volume up/down, mute, play/pause etc. to be implemented though.
