PGA2311: Do you have S/N spec of PGA2310, PGA2311 and PGA2320?

Part Number: PGA2311
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA2310, , PGA2320

Hi TI experts,

We are looking for volume control IC.

Do you have S/N spec of PGA2310, PGA2311 and PGA2320?

(Test condition : Vol=0dB,Rg=0Ω, A-weight)

Please check it.

Thank you.

  • Hello,

The output noise specification can be found in the AC characteristics section of the datasheet. This value can be used to determine SNR based on the expected amplitude of your output signal.

For example, from the PGA2311 datasheet (see below) the typical output noise from 10Hz to 20kHz is 2.5 µVrms.

For a 1 Vrms output signal, the typical SNR is 112dB.

This will vary slightly when A-weighted as some of the output noise bandwidth is attenuated.

    Regards,

    Zach

  • Hi Zach,

    Thank you for your help.

Could you test the SNR by applying an A-weight filter?

We are comparing volume ICs from TI, Rohm and JRC. JRC and Rohm datasheets have SNR data with A-weight filter applied.

SNR spec is important to decide Volume IC.

    Please help it.

    Thank you.

  • HI,

This is an older part and we do not currently have a set up to test the SNR. We could design a board to test this but development would take a few months. It is likely that the SNR spec you are looking at is derived from the output noise spec as in the example I showed in my previous reply. This is because SNR is simply defined by the ratio of the signal amplitude and the output noise amplitude, typically in dB: SNR(dB) = 20*Log10(Vsignal / Vnoise)

For your evaluation, you may use the output noise spec given in the datasheet to compare SNR with other devices.
