PCM1742: VS PCM1942KE

Part Number: PCM1742
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1753, PCM1741, PCM1748

it appears that the PCM1742 is a drop in replacement  for the PCM 753 , except for the 3.3v volt digital supply. . Is that correct?

Also  pin 5 on the PCM1753 is listed a NC . Is this pin not connected to anything on the chip.  The reason I am asking is the if that is true, then I could layout the board  with a 3.3v supply on the pin and the board could use either the PCM1753 or PCM1942

  • Hello Richard,

The PCM1753 is pin compatible with the PCM1748, PCM1742, and PCM1741, except for pin 5.  PCM1753 is 5-V single supply where as PCM1742 uses Dual-Supply Operation: 5-V Analog and 3.3-V Digital. Thus pin 5 is different. I don't have access to internal schematic to see if it is a true NC;  but I believe it is and you can go with what  you suggested above.
